USA's Agencies -- NCIS

NCIS

I know it's been a long time since I talked about the last agency NRO, but I am back with one of the most known agencies. It is mentioned in NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles series, with our beloved Daniela Ruah. I am going to explain briefly what is the goal and organization of this USA's Agency.

NCIS, which stands for Naval Criminal Investigative Service (Fig. 1), is the primary security, counter-intelligence, counter-terrorism, and law enforcement agency of the United States Department of the Navy.
"NCIS special agents are supported by analysts and other experts skilled in disciplines such as forensicssurveillance, surveillance countermeasures, computer investigations, physical security, and polygraph examinations."
It was created in 1992.
The headquarter is located in Quantico and its name is Russell-Knox Building (Fig. 2).
The actual director is Director Mark D. Ridley (Fig. 3).

Their mission is:

"The NCIS mission is to investigate and defeat criminal, terrorist, and foreign intelligence threats to the United States Navy and Marine Corps—ashore, afloat, and in cyberspace."

Their core mission areas are:
  • Combating Terrorism
  • Counterintelligence
  • Cyber
  • Felony Investigations
  • Mission Support
  • Security Policy
Their strategic vision is:

"NCIS strategy aligns with NCIS-specific capabilities that support U.S. naval forces as they address emerging challenges. NCIS strategy is mapped to three general assumptions:
  • Naval forces will be in high demand, and employed in traditional and non-traditional missions, focused on maritime security, irregular challenges, theater security cooperation, regional engagement, partnership building, humanitarian assistance, and maritime domain awareness;
  • Navy and Marine Corps units will operate in unfamiliar expeditionary environments requiring local cultural expertise. Intelligence and cultural/geopolitical knowledge requirements for leaders will be significant;
  • The emerging nexus of crime, terrorism and warfare requires a special focus on enhancing working relationships and the exchange of information among military, intelligence, security, and law enforcement organizations."
